Avs Shot Blocking "Tough to Play Against"

The Calgary Flames on the Colorado Avalanche's ability to block shots:

 

 

  • "Painful. That's their specialty. There were times we had chances, good scoring chances, and they were just right there in the lane.
  • "It's kind of frustrating. They do that part of the game well."
  • "They do a good job of taking your space away, and get big in front of you."
  • "It's tough to play against that, and we can learn from that."
Music to my ears!  The funny thing is Andy was still big in this game, making 34 saves on 36 shots.

Hey Sean, yeah the shot blocking was really noticeable in last night's game. To be honest, as an Oilers fan, I really hate the Flames. So, I don't mind them losing to the Avs. Colorado made use of some nice stretch passes during line changes which were pretty effective.

The Oilers could learn a thing or two from the Avs--particularly how to hold onto a one-goal lead. Positionally, the Avs are pretty solid. That O'Reilly kid is one hell of a 2nd round pick too.

Hopefully the Flames softened up the Avs a bit for tonight's game though! smilies/grin.gif
