Sorry for the late review (I'm not sure how many of you want to relive this one anyway) -- I got some late minute tickets to see DU beat North Dakota 1-0 in a really entertaining and spirited hockey game. I watched last night's game this morning, no idea of the horror awaiting me...
- The wheels have come off in 3rd period in 3 of the last 4 game for the Avs - 11 goals in the 3rd periods of those 3 games. Obviously, this is a very disturbing tread.
- I don’t have a player to throw under the bus today; this was a team collapse.
- Sedin’s game winning goal was simply unacceptable defensive coverage, especially in a tied hockey game in the 3rd.
- While it was understandable, I wasn’t happy with Andy body language after Sedin’s goal. He looked defeated.
- What happened to the team that seemed to never give up? In October in Detroit - the Wings scored what seemed to be a backbreaking goal late in the 3rd, and it didn’t seem to even phase the Avs. In these last two, the game was over as soon Nucks / Oil scored the go ahead goal.
- I think the Avs really missed Footer’s veteran leadership in these last two games. Maybe he would have been able to calm the team down a little more when things started to go south…
- O’Reilly was invisible all game long.
- On the plus side - the PP seemed to be much better with Liles back and Clark played his best game of the season.
