Dejà Vu in Vancover, Avs Lose 5-2

Sorry for the late review (I'm not sure how many of you want to relive this one anyway) -- I got some late minute tickets to see DU beat North Dakota 1-0 in a really entertaining and spirited hockey game.  I watched last night's game this morning, no idea of the horror awaiting me...
  • The wheels have come off in 3rd period in 3 of the last 4 game for the Avs - 11 goals in the 3rd periods of those 3 games.  Obviously, this is a very disturbing tread.
  • I don’t have a player to throw under the bus today; this was a team collapse.
  • Sedin’s game winning goal was simply unacceptable defensive coverage, especially in a tied hockey game in the 3rd.
  • While it was understandable, I wasn’t happy with Andy body language after Sedin’s goal.  He looked defeated.
  • What happened to the team that seemed to never give up?  In October in Detroit - the Wings scored what seemed to be a backbreaking goal late in the 3rd, and it didn’t seem to even phase the Avs.   In these last two, the game was over as soon Nucks / Oil scored the go ahead goal.
  • I think the Avs really missed Footer’s veteran leadership in these last two games.  Maybe he would have been able to calm the team down a little more when things started to go south…
  • O’Reilly was invisible all game long.
  • On the plus side - the PP seemed to be much better with Liles back and Clark played his best game of the season.
Avs Trivia

Which team did Paul Stastny score his 1st NHL goal against?

Answer: Montreal.
